Jo was raised in New Zealand where she graduated with an A-grade Diploma in Jazz Performance from the Christchurch Polytechnic School of Jazz and in the same year was presented with the Jazz Soloist of the South Island Award. Since then Jo has gone on to study various forms of entertainment including dance, stage/television acting and vocal technique. Her list of credits include a lead role in The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers-Live on Stage a featured role in the TV series Hercules, a lead role in the TV series Deadly Women and singing backing vocals for artists such as Rick Price, Glenn Shorrock, Tina Arena, Mark Williams, Margaret Urlich, Julie Anthony, Steve Clisby, Ursula Yovich and Kyle Linahan.
Jo's first single, Closest Thing to Heaven, was released through Warner Bros Music New Zealand, and went to number 5 on the NZ pop charts. Since moving to Sydney in 1998, Jo has built up a name for herself within the music industry and has an impressive list of credits to her name and some of her clients have included Telstra Corporation, P&O, IMG, St George Bank and NSW Government to name but a few.
Jo is constantly performing around Sydney as well as being an in-demand session singer voice over artist and actress. She feels at home playing guitar and percussion as well as singing in ensembles with some of Australia's most respected artists and musicians. Jo has won awards for her original compositions in both the 25th Australian National song-writing contest and the Musicoz Awards. She's appearanced on Mornings with Kerri-Anne Kennerley and has given electric performances at The Manly International Jazz Festival, The Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival, The Norfolk Island Jazz Festival and The New Zealand International Jazz and Blues Festival, as well as hosting her own show at Sydney's top live music venue, The Basement. Jo’Äôs been a part of the 2006, 2007 and 2009 Taronga Zoo Twilight Series Concerts guesting with The Doobies, Eagles & West Coast Rock Show featuring Barry Leef.
